No
Mercury! No Metals! No Kidding!
Prior to the advent of white (composite) fillings, silver amalgam
fillings were the standard filling material used in dental
practices. While they are an adequate restoration, amalgams have
certain shortcomings. Metal does not bond (stick) well to teeth and
can cause small cracks to develop in the teeth over time. Sometimes
these cracks will become big enough that they cause a portion of the
tooth to break, necessitating more extensive dental work to properly
restore (fill) your tooth. In addition, most patients prefer the
esthetics of a tooth-colored filling material and simply do not want
an ugly black filling in their teeth. Because of this, we only offer
modern composite restorations that are strong, natural looking, and
contain no metals.
